The king had a problem. The king had no desire to eat. The King had lost his appetite. the cooks of the palace were very worried. they prepared the King's favorite dishes: barbecued chicken, papaya salad, beef laap*, duck noodle soup. But the King did not eat a bite. the cook prepared the King's favorite desserts: sweet rice cakes, mangoes with a ticky rice, coconut jelly. But the king did not even look at the food.
    "What can we do?" asked the cooks. "The king used to love our food. Now he won't eat. He has lose his appetite."
    " I have lost my appetite, "said the King. "Who can help me?" The king called Xieng mieng.
    " Xieng mieng can you help me? I have lost my appetite. My cooks cook the most delicious food and tastiest desserts, but I'm not hungry. What can i do?" asked the King.
"No problem, king. I have a cure for your problem. It is at myhome. I will bring it tomorrow morning," said Xieng mieng.
" Thank you in advance," said The King. "I will wait for you tomorrow. I promise that I will not eat anything before you come "
And Xieng Mieng went home and lay down on his bed and took a long nap.
the next morning The King got up early waited for xieng mieng. The cook brought the king's usual breakfast: a cup of coffee, fried eggs, pastries, mangoes, bananas, papaya, fried rice, rice soup, barbecued chikcen, sweet and soup pork, fried fish, and beef satay.
    I can't eat things" said The King. "I must wait for Xieng Mieng. He will come with the cure to bring back my appetite."
    The King waited all morning.
    Soon the sun reached the top of the sky. I was noon. but Xieng Mieng had no arrived.
    "Where is xieng Mieng my cure?" asked The king. The food on The King's table smelled very good.
    One o'clock passed and xieng Mieng had no arrived.
    "Where is Xieng mieng " asked The King.
    two o'clock. The King look at The food on the table.
    "soldiers, go ind Xieng Mieng and bring gim to the parace," ordered the King.
    thee o' clock. The king walked around the table and took a long look at the barbecued chicken.
     "where is the xieng Mieng?" Where are the soldiers?" asked The King.
    Finally. at for o'clock, the king could wait no longer. the King begn to eat the barbecued chickenand when he finished the chicken he ate the sweet and soup pork. and when he finished the pork he ate the flied fish. And when he finished the fish he ate the beef satay.
    The King was eaten sticky rice with the mangoes when xieng Mieng walked in."xieng Mieng . I'm very angry with you ! i waited for you all morning and all afternoon and still did not come. You told me not to eat until you came but I could not wait. i had to eat. I was so hungry!"
Xieng Mieng listened quiety to the King.
"If you don't feel hungry, then you will have no appetite. that is the cure"
